About our Laboratories
Our laboratories process a patient's stem cells by isolating them from the bone marrow and then testing for quality. Quality testing includes counting the number of stem cells and the so-called stem cell 'vitality' measurement.
Laboratories
We cooperate with a state-of-the-art laboratory that complies with the German law on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Our in-house laboratory is currently in preparation.
Currently, we are building our newest clinic in Düsseldorf, which features an in-house laboratory and one of the most advanced MRI scanners available.
Head of laboratory
Dr. rer. nat. Karl H. Rademacher is the
qualified person according to § 15, para. 3 AMG at the
XCell-Center. He is responsible for the adequate production of the
stem cell specimens. Dr. Rademacher has been working as production-
respectively executive inspector in the realm of pharmaceutical
technologies, including the handling and production of blood
products and vaccines for over 15 years.
Stem cell collection
The stem cell collection itself is performed as an out-patient procedure under local anesthesia and sterile conditions. The risk of infection is minimized by working in the sterile environment of our eight operating rooms.
Within 48 hours, the stem cell samples are processed and quality tested by one of the abovementioned specialized laboratories in totally sterile, clean room conditions. Since the stem cells (and bone marrow) are in sterile tubes and never come into contact with the air, they cannot be contaminated.
Bone marrow processing and quality testing consists of:
- Stem cell isolation - stem cells are separated from the red blood cells and blood plasma.
- Stem cell counting
- Stem cell vitality measurement
- PCR Measurement of Hepatitis B/C, HCV, HIV 1/2
- Sterility according to Pharmacopoeia
